    Larry and Dan,

Very interesting show. I like a lot of the points you make on the value of social media although i’m not sure i’m a fan of the term ‘micro-branding’.

As a marketer, what’s interesting about social media is the fact that it changes the way organizations interact with their customers. Social media allows companies to have an ongoing conversation with their customers – and this changes the paradigm of one-time marketing campaigns or other traditional ways of doing marketing.

Also, social media is a media that allows you to converse with people who might not have been comfortable with traditional marketing. Recently a customer service organization realized that more than 50% of the people they heard from via social media were people they had never heard before via other ways (surveys…etc).

Finally – social media puts brands and their audience on equal footing. It incents companies to be more upfront about their intentions and be more transparent. In fact, I did a videoblog on this subject @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdSYe7DsCs4
