Two more of the long-term legends of search engine marketing are coming to WebmasterRadio.FM starting next week.
Greg Niland (GoodROI.com) and Frank Watson (Smart-Keywords.com), are teaming up to present Search for Solutions debuting Monday February 1 at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
Greg Niland (aka GoodROI) was the original host of Good Karma which aired on WebmasterRadio.FM from December 2005 until December 2007. An active member of the Internet Marketers of New York and avid organizer of IMNY charity events, Greg is one of the swiftest search marketers in the world.
Frank Watson (aka AussieWebmaster), is well known in the SEO, PPC and affiliate marketing communities. He is also a staple speaker on the web marketing conference tour making frequent appearances at Search Engine Strategies and Affiliate Convention events. He is a writer, educator, lecturer and one hell of a fine web marketer. His columns can be read regularly at Search Engine Watch.
Greg and Frank will have a free wheeling sort of show where they will take and pose difficult questions on search marketing and the business of being a working webmaster. With nearly three decades of experience between them, Greg and Frank are enormous additions to the WebmasterRadio.FM family of show hosts.
Tune into Search for Solutions, weekly on WebmasterRadio.FM starting Monday February 1, 2010 at 7pm ET, 4pm PT or download podcasts from the WebmasterRadio.FM archives, from iTunes, or from other fine podcast distribution outlets.

WebmasterRadio.FM has grown its programming line-up significantly this year. In 2009, WebmasterRadio.FM has added eight new shows to the schedule and re-introduced two others. Today, we are able to announce the addition of two new shows, both of which are currently in pre-production.
The first will be hosted by Shawna Fennell, founder of 1 Choice 4 Your Store address E-commerce, online store development and merchant marketing. Shawna is an experienced radio host who’s Yahoo! Store Power Hour was a highly rated show at another online radio network. We are very pleased to welcome her to the WebmasterRadio.FM family.
Shawna’s new show will air shortly after Labor Day. Just so you know, we’re looking for suggestions to name the show. Forward your ideas to jimhedger @ webmasterradio.fm and, if the name you suggest is chosen, we’ll make sure you get some cool tech shwag.
Also debuting in September will be a show dedicated to a behind the scenes look at the madness we call our industry. SEOGossip with Scott Polk and Shannon Poole will take a totally unidentifying snapshot of weird, funny, interesting things, people and events in the search marketing world. Anyone who attends conferences knows Scott and Shannon. Witty, irreverent, brilliant and enormously fun, our dynamic duo will strive to show the human face of one of the most interesting industries in the world.
Both shows will air in early to mid-September. Welcome Shawna, Scott and Shannon!

WebmasterRadio.FM Sees 75% Increase in Listeners

It has been a month since I last took a long look at WebmasterRadio.FM’s listener stats. Since we changed our website and improved our distribution feeds in late January, the network has been far better able to track listeners across the number of channels our shows are accessible through. While we knew our stats were good, growth over the past four weeks has been incredible! Earlier today, WebmasterRadio.FM measured an overall 75% increase since listener stats were last taken in mid-May.
WebmasterRadio.FM’s audience access our shows in three primary ways. The first is as a podcast file through an outside service such as iTunes or Odeo. The second is on-demand listening or downloading from individual show archives on the WebmasterRadio.FM website. The third is by tuning in live when shows are scheduled to run.
Of the three, the iTunes/Odeo group is by far the largest, accounting for just over half our audience at 53% of total listeners. On-demand downloads or listens comes in second at 32% of total listeners. Only 15% of our audience listens live when a particular show is scheduled. Given the actual listener numbers, that 15% is a rather intimidating group to think about when hearing the studio count down to one’s mic going live.
Certain shows had amazing increases but the largest were seen by specialty programming such as conferences, specials, and town-halls. The Public Relations Society of America conference channel, for instance, saw a 485% jump in listener numbers. Search Marketing Expo coverage jumped 445%! WebmasterRadio.FM coverage of adTech conferences saw a 286% increase over last month!
Among specific WebmasterRadio.FM shows, the biggest increase in listeners was achieved by FiredUp! with Gordon Rudow which saw a 178% increase in listeners. Mobile Presence saw a 154% increase. CoverStory saw a 140% jump, Webcology saw a 131% jump, LifeTips saw a 123% jump and Landing Page Optimization with Tim Ash saw a 118% increase in listeners.
We see a number of reasons for the increase in our listener numbers over the past four weeks. WebmasterRadio.FM just hosted the amazingly successful Affiliate Convention in Denver. We certainly gained a number of listeners from that effort. We have also been using social media applications such as Twitter and Facebook far more effectively.
A third reason is a natural growth in the industry. As the only online radio network representing the digital marketing and B2B community, WebmasterRadio.FM is naturally attracting a larger audience as a larger community learns about the network. Last but certainly not least among reasons for growth is the quality of our programming. We’ve gone out of our way to work to bring shows our audience tells us it wants to hear while retaining as diverse a line-up as possible. New shows like LPO, Mobile Presence, and Office Hours appeal to specific listening audiences, as does Affiliate Marketing Insider, Domain Masters and the German language Webmasters on the Roof.
Now that Affiliate Convention is put to the back burner for the next few weeks (we’re planning Affiliate Convention ll for early December!), we have some time to develop a few new programs, work on our website and find new distribution sources for our one-of-a-kind programming. Wait ’till ya see what we have coming up for September!
Attention Affiliate Marketers! – Affiliate Convention, June 17 – 20, Denver

In cooperation with AffSpot and Ticonderoga Ventures, WebmasterRadio.FM is throwing a convention designed to make affiliate marketing businesses better. Taking place June 17th – 20th in Denver Colorado, the Affiliate Convention is being organized to offer the real stars of the field, the affiliate marketers themselves a conference of their very own.
If you are in any way interested in the expansive opportunities in the affiliate marketing industry, Affiliate Convention is the show for you. Affiliate marketing is now the fastest growing sector in digital marketing and one showing continued strong returns for those involved. While affiliate marketing has brought wealth to many over the years, the current economic conditions make affiliate sales even brighter as consumers turn the Internet and e-commerce to save money.
Free Admission for Affiliate Marketers, Lowered Costs for All
We are dedicated to building a better affiliate marketing community and bringing the best speakers, sessions and information to that community. As we see it, working affiliates are the cornerstones of the industry. The efforts of the actual workers, affiliate marketers, make all of us successful. Therefore, at Affiliate Convention, any affiliate marketer who can prove their affiliation to a major network will get free admission to the event!
One of the reasons we choose Denver as the launch pad for the Affiliate Convention series is the city’s affordability. Denver is a hub airport for several airlines and has some of the least expensive room rates in the country. All expenses added up, some conferences cost $2500 or more to attend. We want to build one that costs attendees as little as possible while offering more than any other trade show or convention serving the affiliate marketing sector.
True Thought-Leaders as Speakers
It is our intention to build a conference free of generic sessions, incomplete information or product-pushing speakers. Affiliate Convention is designed for Affiliate Marketers with an intermediate to high level of knowledge and experience. To that end, we have invited some of the smartest and in some cases, most controversial names in Affiliate Marketing to speak. Watch for names like Kris Jones (CEO of PepperJam), Harrison Gervitz (founder of GervitzMedia), Heather Paulson (CEO of Paulson Management Group), Andrew Cotton (Sr. Sales Manager with Yahoo Search Marketing), Jeannine Crooks (Blogger), and Monte Cahn (CEO of Moniker).
Topics of Importance for Affiliate Marketers
Moving far away from generic affiliate marketing conferences, Affiliate Convention is built for experienced affiliate marketers. Information and learning sessions at Affiliate Convention include, Actual E-mail marketing case studies, video advertising, advanced SEO, local marketing, how to look after your business and financial interests, and working with niche tracks. Affiliate Convention’s speaker and topic list is compiled to give you the best access to the brightest brains in affiliate marketing.
Register NOW
Register as quickly as possible. We only have room for so many attendees and we want your name on the list. Registration is easy and inexpensive. If you are a working affiliate, registration is FREE!

2009 has been an interesting and expansive year for WebmasterRadio.FM/. As regular visitors and listeners have noticed, the website looks and acts differently today than it did last week. We’ve made a number of changes in the past eight weeks. As one can imagine, making changes in a network as large as WebmasterRadio.FM is a complex and difficult undertaking.
We are proud of WebmasterRadio.FM’s accomplishments and each of the shows running on the network. WebmasterRadio.FM is among the largest online radio and podcast networks in the world. With over 15,000 historic files in our archives and nearly 25 hours of fresh content added each week, WebmasterRadio.FM is the voice of the online advertising and B2B industries. This year we want to push further.

Getting Better at Radio
February 19, 2009 by Jim Hedger
A few hours ago I wrote about the possibility we are migrating our platform to a WordPress foundation. It’s been a long day of examination, problem solving and hard thinking. One of our tasks today has been to troll through half a decade of archives comprised of over 15,000 unique audio files. While we obviously did not review them all we did listen to a few dozen of them from over the years.
We’re getting better at doing radio. The tone and quality of our podcasts is far better today and we are starting to develop a real on-air personality between shows. Just a few minutes ago, I heard our head producer/engineer Brasco doing a live announcement about the Shoemoney Show. It sounded great.
2009 is the year in which WebmasterRadio.FM has recharged its batteries and renewed its commitment to improving the quality of content and distribution by any means possible.
New Shows
To that end, we have brought on three new shows in the past 45 days; Office Hours with Vanessa Fox, Mobile Presence with Cindy Krum, Jordan Kasteler and Kim Dushinski, and Social Networking Now with Mark Lesnick and Mark Brooks.
Re-introduction of Shows
Since January 1, we have re-introduced two of our highest rated shows. The Shoemoney Show returned to WebmasterRadio.FM in mid January. SEO101 returned fully revamped and reinvigorated with Jennifer Evans Laycock and Ross Dunn hosting.
Shows in Development
In the next 45 days, we intend to bring a number of new shows to air in the following topic areas: Social Media, Landing Page Optimization, Public Relations, SEM Analytics, and Career Counseling.
With 23 unique shows either on-air (and in podcast archives) or in development, WebmasterRadio.FM is one of the largest fresh content creators in mainstream or Internet media. (By contrast, excepting the news, NBC TV creates approximately 18-hours of fresh content per week and they have far deeper pockets than we do.)
We’re working harder to bring better media to our listeners. Stay tuned to WebmasterRadio.FM.
An Experiential SMX West Review

Ever been in a busy room full of people and felt as if you and they were not really there? The sensation falls between an out of body experience and an unfortunate brain-full of high dosage pain relievers.
Standing with a small group of old-time search marketers on the trade-show floor at Search Marketing Expo (SMXWest) in Santa Clara at the beginning of this week, we all noted how the vibe of the show was sort of like that. Long used to feeling like ghosts in the machine, this month’s pilgrimage to the Valley made many of us feel like spiritless specters. It took a couple of days for the conference spirit to catch its first wind. Unfortunately, the conference was only three days long.
