As Much as Things Have Changed, Content Is Still King – Our Strategy for Easily Creating It! James Martell discusses this time-tested theory.

One of the biggest advantages affiliates have over established brands, and one of the greatest opportunities to add value, is the ability to be agile and act quickly with content marketing.

While brands spend months approving their content strategy and holding fruitless meetings, affiliates can be creating content of such a high standard, that competitors simply won’t have the resources to compete with, and Google would be foolish not to drive traffic to.

For additional information,  you can learn more from AB #276,  where James chats with Jonathan Goodman, founder and president of Halyard Consulting, about how you can quickly and easily come up with new and quality sources of content to achieve online success.

Linda Woods, managing director at MadrivoOPM, and James reminisce about old times in affiliate marketing and how much has changed over the years. They covered loss of sense of community and the explosion of large coupon/deal sites that affect other affiliates revenues. Linda covered in depth the new trend of advertisers moving to networks that utilize click attribution other than last click.

Now, affiliates should look for programs in their networks that assign some or all of the available commission to those who “introduce” or “influence” the customer to buy (like content, review & niche sites) instead of the last click closers only (often coupon/loyalty sites). This way the higher value content affiliates get a piece of the pie, instead of only the last minute coupon shoppers. James brought up that even with these changes, content is still king, Linda agreed and concluded that innovation in mobile, video and fresh models is vital for affiliates’ futures.
